October Annual Orchid Show 2014

The venue for this year's Annual Orchid Show which will be held on Saturday October 25th and Sunday October 26th 2014, is the Ambassador Hotel, 99A Long Circular Road, St. James.
The Show will be officially opened on Saturday 25th October 2014 at 9.00am by His Excellency Anthony T.A. Carmona.
This year the Show is sanctioned by the American Orchid Society and there will be AOS judges to judge the exhibits.
The Show Chairperson is Mr.Curtis Lutchman and the Co-Chairperson is Mr. Christopher Watson.
All members are encouraged to support the Show by displaying and exhibiting their plants and blooms.

Registration Annual Orchid Show 2014.

Registration of plants will take place on from noon on Wednesday 22nd October as well as from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm on Thursday October 23rd 2014. Members are advised to bring their plants as early as possible.
Members entering plants for the Show must ensure that their plants are properly labeled and the writing must be in Block Letters. Any plant without a label will not be entered for judging but can be entered for display only.
Please note you are also required to prepare a legible list of the plants you are entering, to include the plant name and where practical, the parentage.
This list should be grouped according to genus e.g.Cattleya, Dendrobium, Vanda, etc.


The American Orchid Society judges along with the Trinidad & Tobago Orchid Society judges will commence judging on Friday 24th October 2014 at 8.30 am. During the judging only the relevant personnel will be allowed in the hall, which includes AOS judges, TTOS judges, student judges and clerks.
There are also prizes for flower arrangements in the following categories:

(1) Orchid Arrangements
(2) Orchid & local grown cut flowers
(3) Orchid & imported cut flowers.
(4) Corsages.

Show Entry and Tickets

Members are requested to take advance show entry tickets to sell which are priced at $25.00 while entry at the door is $30.00. Tickets will be available at this month's monthly meeting.
Only financial members who display their badges for the year 2014/2015 will be admitted free of charge to the Show.

A reminder that no locally collected species are to be offered at any TTOS show for sale.

Assistance at the upcoming Show

The Show Committee is appealing to members to come forward to give their support and assistance at this show. Beside assistance at the door on both days of the Show, there are a number of areas that assistance is required. Members can write their names and contact number on a slip of paper and hand it to Joan Hampton or Diane Huggins at this month's meeting.

Vending Booth

The Society is having a TTOS vending booth. This is for Non Commercial/Hobbyist members only.
Members who have a few extra plants for sale that are disease free and well grown can bring their plants to be sold.
Plants must be dropped off at 8.00am on Saturday 25th. October 2014.

  1. You are allowed ten (10) plants only per day.
  2. If your plants are sold out on the first day of the Show (Saturday) you will be allowed to bring another ten (10) plants on the Sunday, on any given day only ten (10) plants will be allowed to be sold.
  3. Twenty percent (20%) of your sales for the weekend will be donated to the T.T.O.S.

The Management Committee has put in place guide lines for members wishing to host monthly meetings at their home. Any member wishing to do so should contact the Management Committee for further information.

Other (2)

The Confirmed date for the Society's Christmas lunch is November 30th 2014 and the venue is "San Antonio Conservatory" in Santa Cruz. Cost of tickets will be advised.
