September 2022

The September TTOS Monthly Meeting will be held on Sunday September 18 th 2022 at 10 AM at the St. Augustine YWCA on Gordon Street, St Augustine. All Covid protocols will be observed; please wear masks if you feel it necessary according to your situation, temperature checks and hand sanitizing will be required. There will be no catering but bottled water will be provided.

Directions - turn off the Eastern Main Road  on to Warren Street ( Warren Street is on the north side of Eastern Main Road between the St Augustine Massey Store and the Lakshmi Girl's Hindu College) continue north on Warren Street to Gordon Street ( a dead end) turn left and the YWCA is the second building on your left and there is a sign. Parking is available in the yard.

We take the opportunity to also inform you that next month's meeting will be held on Sunday 16th October 2022 at the St. Xavier's Primary School in St. Joseph. All Covid Protocols will be observed and other arrangement as applicable for September meeting will be in place, directions will be provided in October Newsletter.

The Agenda for the 18 th September 2022 meeting at YWCA will be:

  1. Review of Management activity September 2022
  2. A panel discussion on Cultivation of tropical orchid species non-specific to native orchid conservation
  3. Launch of Photo Competition 2022 on Sunday 18 th September 2022 and will be open for two months for submission of entries. Entry forms will be available at the meeting.
  4. Presentation of the show table results.
  5. General discussion on future society activity.

The Agenda for the 16 th October 2022 monthly meeting at St. Xavier's Primary School will be:

  1. Review of Management activity October 2022
  2. An interactive discussion and guidelines for photographing orchids in bloom, as specimen and in-situ particularly to assist members who wish to participate in the photo competition.
  3. Presentation of the show table results
  4. Interactive discussion on future society activity. We hope that members will give their views and suggestions which will allow us to plan future activities.

Please note there will be a fee of 10 dollars for guests.  Members are reminded they may bring up to 10 orchid plants for sale to a meeting once the meeting is not held at a member's home or a nursery.

Annual dues remain $125 per person or $240 for a couple. Dues were waived for 2020/21 and 2021/22 so if you paid for 2019/2020 you now pay the above. If you did not pay for 2019/20 you  will now pay two years dues. The Treasurer can advise you of your status - 3684399 by phone or Whatsapp.
